Welcome to Save Point. This is the newsletter for all things CBDiabla. Here, you'll get a mix of updates on CBDiabla gigs and releases, as well as thoughts and reflections that I want to share to the collective.
Save Point is born out of the necessity of creating a more autonomous communication platform for myself. A standard tool for communication for many of us is Instagram, which is a site with a wide range of problems. It is a place where our privacy is compromised, an app designed to create addiction and an anxiety vortex that takes us away from the present. I am actively working to move away from that platform, and this newsletter is an important step towards that goal.
It is very difficult to sit with things and engage with content critically with the constant attention demands from social media. This is why I think newsletters are the path forward. They allow creators to set their own terms for sharing and readers to set their own pace for engaging. I'll probably write more in depth about this and the technicalities of why I chose Ghost instead of Substack, let me know if that is of interest to you.

I find the concept of a save point to be a meaningful analogy for the intention I want to set with this site. A save point occurs only at key points of your adventure. You have time to live and experience, to think, to engage with the world intentionally. Each save is a snapshot of time, energy and place in an extended journey.
This idea also touches on how we use social media as a personal archive. For me it's important to have ownership of my data, my story and how it's told and shared. When our personal history is scraped to train AI models and governed by a corporation that will use our information against our own interests, it is crucial to ask ourselves who we give our life story to and why.
Don't hesitate to reach out and connect. The best things I've got out of social media sites have been the connections I've made with people all over the world. This newsletter is me putting myself out there in hopes of staying in touch and engaging with like-minded people. So let me know your thoughts about it and what you'd be interested in reading!
Thanks for resting at this Save Point. I hope your journey carries on smoothly.
